The relationship between Hailey Banks and Scott Denoga, commonly referred to as "Hailott" or "Scottley" among fans, dates back to their childhood, when they lived next door to one another and became best friends.

Hailey and Scott have been friends since they were young kids, and as the years passed, Hailey grew to possess romantic feelings for him, which she dared not reveal.
While they were in third grade, Hailey ate all of Scott's Halloween candy and blamed it on burglars. While they were in fifth grade, Hailey began to think Scott was "cute" when he tried a new hair gel that was said to attract bears. Hailey later began to have romantic feelings for Scott and wrote "Kiss Scott Denoga" on her bucket list. She claimed that she wrote it as a "joke" but meant what she wrote.
